EN EL CORAZÓN DEL LAGO TITICACA
Welcome to our island, Taquile. Located in the heart of the Titicaca Lake, our island is 3 miles long and 1 mile wide at its widest part. Our native community is located at 15°46’ south latitude and at 69°41’ east longitude. Most of the population lives at about 3950 meters above sea level. The highest point of the island reaches 4050 meters above sea level. We are organized in 6 sectors or communities (suyos): Central community, Quinuapata community, Estancia community, Hayllano community, Kesura community, and the Hayrapata community. Throughout our entire island there are cobbled roads and the entrance to each suyo is indicated by a welcome arch. On the island, there are two seasons. The dry season (winter) from May to August and the rainy season (summer) from September to April. This climate is typical for tropical altitude. On the island we have archaeological centers, a heavenly beach and the culture lives on through ancient times, today and forever.
Taquile awaits you!!!
